George is committed to creating an economic environment that leads to jobs and opportunity. As a businessman who has signed both sides of a paycheck, George understands what it takes to create jobs, recruit industry and train our workforce. He’ll fight against tax increases that harm working families and small businesses, and he’ll stand up to the special interests in Montgomery to end wasteful spending and stop government growth.

During this uncertain time in our economy, George has the proven experience in business to provide the leadership we need to get people back to work throughout Geneva, Dale and Houston Counties.

Ethics Reform in State Government

George will work to restore honesty and integrity to state government. He supports passing tough ethics measures that discourage government corruption while promising swift and severe punishment for those that commit it.

For too long, Alabama has been known as a hotbed for public corruption. This has destroyed public trust in our government and hurt our ability to attract new industry and investment from outside of our state. George will work to end corruption by toughening our ethics laws, strengthening the power of the Alabama Ethics Commission and limiting the influence of lobbyists in Montgomery.

Stopping Illegal Immigration

Illegal immigration is an issue that must now be addressed on the state and local level because federal officials are failing us at the national level. Illegal immigrants use our services, take our jobs, put their children in our public schools and give nothing back in terms of payroll taxes and income taxes.

George will fight to end the plague of illegal immigration that drains our wallets and government resources while increasing crime and threatening our security. In order to stop the flood of immigration, George supports common sense solutions and “get tough” initiatives such as requiring proof of citizenship before receiving access to government programs, and providing law enforcement officials with training they need to enforce immigration laws.

Improving Education

One of George’s top priorities will be improving education for all of our children and preparing our workforce for 21st century jobs. He will work to ensure that education dollars are devoted to classroom instruction and student needs. He also believes we need to pursue proven education reforms, including charter schools and merit pay for teachers who excel.

George will work to expand existing programs that have a proven record of success, such as the Alabama Reading Initiative, the Alabama Math, Science and Technology Initiative and ACCESS Distance Learning.

As part of his plan for education, George also supports strengthening teacher ethics laws, and reforming tenure laws that support unqualified and unproductive teachers.

Supporting our Military

Ft. Rucker has a vital role in not only our national security but also the economy in our region. George will continue to support Ft. Rucker and its infrastructure needs.
